Game rules:

2. Get ready! For the game you need three regular dice, a pencil, colored pencils (for those who like to color) and the ability to read or listen. We recommend the game for children aged 3 to 10 years. Those who cannot read yet may be helped by someone who can.
3. Create a Hero! In the book you will find a Character Sheet and profession cards. Choose a profession for your character, their gender and get familiar with their abilities. Then give your hero a name and write it on the Character Sheet. Draw a portrait of the hero. You can also use this Character Sheet during the next Fairy Tale games. Your character will develop, gain friends and magical items!
4. Rolls. During the adventure the hero often has to check if something succeeded. A dice roll is also called a "trait test". In the Fairy Tale game we use 3 six-sided dice. We roll them and sum the pips. In most cases, a result from 3 to 10 means failure, and from 11 to 18 success.
5. Character traits: Strength, Mind and Dexterity. When you choose the hero's profession, one of these values increases by +1. During the game, you add the value of the trait you use to the dice roll. Example: your Strength trait is +1. When you perform a Strength test and the dice show "10", you add +1, so your final result is 11.
6. Fatigue. During the game the hero may receive so-called fatigue points. They are received as a result of bad decisions or bad luck on the dice. Each fatigue point means -1 to the dice roll result. When the hero receives the third fatigue point, he falls unconscious and the game must be restarted. Magical potions, abilities or some items can reduce fatigue points during the game. When the game ends, fatigue points return to the initial state.
7. Items. If you acquire an item, add it to the list of items along with a description of the bonus it gives to tests. From now on you can use it at any time during the game.
8. Friends. When you gain a friend, add them to the list of friends. Some have special abilities and can be useful in future adventures.
9. Game progress. Read the paragraph, then see what options are available. Choose an answer and go to the point indicated by the text (you will find point numbers in the corners of the pages). Repeat this until you finish the game.
10. Attention! Read only the points that the instructions lead to. Otherwise you will spoil the fun! If you want the game to be even more magical, you can play music while reading. We recommend Studio Ghibli soundtracks available e.g. on Youtube.
11. Character development. When you finish the game, you can increase Strength, Mind or Dexterity by one point. If you want, you can try to play the game several times choosing a different path. However, be honest and do not add trait development a second time after completing the game again. You can keep the acquired items and friends though.
12. Hints. For some choices related to trait tests, abbreviations appear indicating professions that receive a +1 bonus in this test. "CZ" means wizard/wizardess, "OP" means forest guardian, "RY" means knight etc. The abbreviation is to remind you to use abilities.
13. Luck Coins. During adventures the hero gains so-called Luck Coins (LC). They can buy something in the city or use them to reroll a bad test result. Repeating one test costs one Luck Coin.
