Board Game Detective Agency: Investigations in Arkham and Other Mysteries

Take on the role of one of the agents of the Investigative Bureau and together with your group head to America in the 1920s. In Innsmouth, a small port town in the state of Massachusetts, an event occurred that suggests that the threats that were supposed to be eradicated two centuries ago by the Salem trials still hang over humanity. You are to investigate all cases somehow connected with Innsmouth to identify and then eliminate potential threats.

Investigative Bureau: Investigations in Arkham and other mysteries is a standalone cooperative game based on the popular Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective series, enriched with completely new mechanisms. During the game, participants take on the roles of agents investigating clues in Boston, Arkham, and other corners of the dark world to solve 5 tricky, paranormal cases inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft.

What is it about?
You take on the roles of agents trained in modern investigative methods. Thanks to this, you enjoy considerable freedom at work. In the box, you will find 5 tricky cases that you must solve.
For each investigation, you will approach it equipped with a range of components such as maps, newspapers, or address books, which will be described at the beginning of each case. Armed only with these items and your own imagination, you will traverse the streets of Arkham or Boston (and sometimes more exotic locations) searching for clues that will allow you to put an end to unimaginable dangers.
The gameplay itself consists of 2 parts: investigation and intervention. During the investigation, players try to identify threats or solve a problem by interviewing people and conducting inquiries. Each such action counts as 1 clue. The number of clues that players can check is specified in the introduction to each case. When they run out (or earlier, if the players are ready and decide to do so), you move on to the intervention. For this, participants choose 3 locations to go to in order to combat the threat.
Why will you love this game?
The Investigative Bureau operates in a world of vague threats and paranormal events. The narrator is often overwhelmed by their own story – although they believe in the authenticity of what they saw, it surpasses their understanding. Players will also have many doubts, and some elements of the cases will remain a mystery forever. This is an intentional device that gives the game a unique atmosphere.
In this set, you will find strange and paranormal cases, taken directly from the stories of H. P. Lovecraft or referencing them. However, knowledge of the writer’s work is not necessary to complete the mysterious investigations.
Fans of the game Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective will certainly be pleased with new challenges, but will also appreciate the mechanical changes and the special atmosphere of the new cases. Even if you have learned to follow Holmes’s line of reasoning, here you will face a completely different kind of challenges that require more than cold analysis.
