The steamer Atlantica is sailing to Boston, but a dark shadow follows the ship, hiding beneath the waves. Your coworkers seem strangely lost and stare at the sea with a quiet, desperate longing. As you fall asleep, you are plagued by disturbing nightmares of dark depths. You are awakened by a scream - someone on the ship has been murdered!
Abyss of Horror is an elaborate, engaging board game with a traitor theme, where participants cannot trust each other, yet must persistently strive towards a designated goal. Saturated with the atmosphere reminiscent of H.P. Lovecraft's work, full of unique characters with interesting stories, the gameplay provides plenty of emotions and forces players to constantly analyze the situation and take risks. Although they command together, they must remain vigilant and show great cunning to save the ship from sinking.
What is it about?
In the depths of the Atlantic Ocean lurks a swarm of dangerous creatures that have set their sights on sinking a steamer. Their servants, taking human form as hybrids, have infiltrated the deck. In every game of Depths of Horror, at least one person takes on the role of such a creature, whose task is to sabotage the efforts of the other players.
All participants, whether human or treacherous hybrids, have access to four key ship resources. Skillful management of them is extremely important from the perspective of victory and defeat, but also for discovering who is who. While humans will try to maintain the resources, hybrids will subtly but effectively deplete them. However, when the time of crisis comes, it will be difficult to assess what each person is aiming for!
At critical moments, players will have to face danger together. They will face challenges that may endanger passengers and skill tests during which saboteurs can further hinder victory.
