Witcher: Old World is an adventure board game that takes players on a journey through a fantastic world full of dangers, secret magic, dark secrets, and extraordinary places just waiting to be discovered. The game’s action takes place in the beloved Witcher universe, many years before the events of the saga about Geralt of Rivia, in times when a plague of monsters ravaged the Continent. Only witchers - professional slayers trained to fight creatures hostile to humans - were able to counter it.

In the game Witcher: Old World, each player chooses one of the five witcher schools and takes on the role of a professional monster slayer. During the journey across the vast lands of the Continent, they will uncover its secrets, train in combat, and gain experience. Depending on the length of the game, determined at the beginning, players compete to collect from 4 to 6 Trophies. The first person to collect the required number wins, bringing the highest honor and fame to their school. Trophies can be earned in many ways. The basic method, fitting for witchers, is killing monsters. Players can also earn them by fighting for the honor of their school against other witchers in taverns, maximizing their Attribute levels, as well as completing specific Quests during their journey across the Continent. During the game, players create a unique deck of cards, choosing from a pool of available skills: attacks, dodges, and witcher signs. Players use the deck in combat, where they combine cards into powerful attack combinations and use the special abilities of the witcher school they belong to. Quests, skirmishes, and even dice poker will allow them to acquire new items and money and develop their skills.
