I was a common thief and I stole food. I was hungry, and yet I ended up on the wall, knelt before the lord, and donned black. I thought it would be worse, but they fed me. It was enough to survive the sickly cold and the teasing of the elders. There were even maidens, we went on trips across the river. Then the commander took us on a reconnaissance beyond the wall. It was supposed to be boring, but it ended with a snowstorm. We got lost, found ourselves in a circle of dead bodies, mangled, broken. Something attacked us… we didn’t see it, but half the boys were gone in a minute. The rest started to run. I was the fastest. I turned around and saw corpses walking towards the wall.

That’s all I saw, I ran behind the ice wall, behind the whole wall protecting the human world. The dice have been cast, lives counted. They are coming, their eyes shining in the freezing blizzard. They do not know fear, they do not know sleep, they have no desires. They are coming, marching forward like the dead cycle of nature. But they are an abomination. They are coming, I must warn everyone. Time to run.
