Uncle Władek told me incredible stories after his alcohol binge, when he was enjoying absinthe in the decadent bar "Rotten Old Land". He loudly expressed conspiracy theories about vampires and their secret rule over the world. About the earth shaped like a piece of cheese and the universe that fits inside the neck of a vodka bottle, expanding when someone takes a sip from it. Yes, he told me this with a deadly serious face. At one of the family parties, I started probing the topic, somewhat ironically, I admit. Then I heard disturbing stories about a dark corner of the cosmos, which consists of compounds toxic to all life. The purples of nebulae take on greenish shades. In the fumes of poisons live gods who with their touch can doom entire planets to extinction. Uncle was a nutcase, but this particular story scared me to the core. The night before the story, I had a dream in which a powerful creature on the horizon, some gigantic kraken, touches our earth with a finger, and it explodes in slow motion, typical of things happening on a cosmic scale. That night I went to bed very late. Only darkness accompanied me.
