The Butterfly is not a static display model but a true kinetic sculpture that imitates the flight of a butterfly. Each part of the model has been designed in a way that allows it to perform its unique function in the mechanism during assembly. The model is powered by a rubber engine and operates without external power sources or batteries.

The Butterfly is not a static display model, but a true kinetic sculpture that imitates the flight of a butterfly. Each part of the model is designed in a way that allows it to perform its unique function in the mechanism during assembly. The model is powered by a rubber engine and operates without external power sources or batteries.
Like all Ugears models, no glue, additional tools, or equipment are used during the assembly of the Butterfly. The model is assembled from ready-made parts laser-cut from plywood made of natural wood materials. After pressing, the ready-to-assemble parts can be easily removed from the sheet.
How it works
The assembly consists of several stages: first, details are connected into small parts, which are assembled into blocks, which in turn shape the finished functioning model. The assembly process is illustrated in step-by-step instructions in Polish.
The openwork wings of the Butterfly are made of kraft cardboard. The set includes two pairs of wings: colorful and light beige, which you can paint as you wish. The lower wings change the angle of inclination during flight, making the model's movements more realistic. The two front pairs of butterfly legs move during the mechanism's operation, and the rear pair serves as a start lever and engine blocker.
In addition to the main element, i.e. the Butterfly, the model also includes a platform shaped like a flower. The Butterfly above the flower is held and cushioned by a special mast that springs during the butterfly's flight. Thanks to this combination – the movement of the wings and the springing mast – the butterfly's flight looks very natural, resembling the dance of an insect gathering nectar over a flower.
