OUTLET WARHAMMER FANTASY ROLEPLAY 2 ED. HANDBOOK - SIGMAR'S LEGACY

The world in which the gameplay in WFRP takes place is a pseudo-Germanic and declining world known from the Warhammer Fantasy Battle wargame. Being a game that focuses on individual characters rather than entire armies, WFRP shows much more detail of that world than its wargame counterpart. Player characters are most often inhabitants of a state called the Empire, a land located in the Old World, loosely based on the Holy Roman Empire. Other important lands of the Old World are Bretonnia based on medieval France and Arthurian legends, Kislev based on medieval Poland, Czechia and Russia, Estalia resembling Spain, and Tilea resembling Italy. The world of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay is a "low fantasy" world (as opposed to the "high fantasy" known from, for example, Forgotten Realms, Dragonlance, Earthdawn, and other popular worlds known from role-playing games). Chronologically, one could say that the world of WFRP is somewhat ahead of other fantasy worlds - it is closer to the Renaissance in terms of technological and social development. Firearms are available (though expensive), and the advancing development of commerce is slowly displacing the power of the nobility. People generally fear magic - and not without reason. Failures during spellcasting can cause terrible effects both for the mage and bystanders. Prolonged contact with magical arts most often ends in madness. One of the most recognizable elements of the Warhammer world is Chaos. While the forces of Chaos in Warhammer Fantasy Battle are mainly depicted as terrible dark knights and beastmen, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay it is an internal threat to entire societies. Secret cults nest in every social layer and try to destroy social order to achieve their own dark benefits. Mutants live in the forests surrounding larger cities, while Skaven dig tunnels beneath them. The Storm of Chaos has passed! The Empire survived another Chaos Invasion, but peace was bought at great cost. Thousands of citizens died in the devastated northern provinces, towns and villages were looted, and famine and plagues followed the war. In all the duchies, prophets of doom foretell the end of the world, flagellants and fanatics call for bloodletting and penance, and Chaos cults undermine the foundations of order. Here is the Empire in the year 2522 – once the most powerful state of the Old World, now a weakened land vulnerable to the blows of treacherous enemies. The Emperor pursues the scattered remnants of Archaon's army, but who will face the internal enemy of Sigmar's descendants? The Legacy of Sigmar is a comprehensive guide to the Empire. On its pages you will find:

• The history of the Empire, from the earliest years of the migrations of peoples up to the current reign of Karl Franz.
• A description of social relations and politics at the courts of the Prince-Electors.
• Legal regulations, procedures for their enforcement, and punishment for criminals.
• Extensive descriptions of all provinces, including a detailed list of important cities, settlements, and villages.
• New information about religion in the Empire.
• 8 new professions, including exorcist and gambler.
• Ready-to-use adventure ideas, including described Non-Player Characters.
• A new, two-page map of the Empire.
• The Conspiracy in Bögenhafen, an adventure for characters finishing their first professions.

The Empire is the heart of the Old World. Knowing its secrets ensures the success of any campaign in the Warhammer Fantasy role-playing game. The Legacy of Sigmar is the manual that all Game Masters have been waiting for. For the Empire! For Sigmar!
