The gambeson serves several functions. It is armor that on its own can withstand sword strikes on medieval battlefields. During LARP events or in reenactments of fights using steel weapons, it absorbs the force of blows and protects the wearer from bruises. Worn under other armor elements, it increases wearing comfort and improves fit. It can serve as a costume on its own, and combined with a belt and a few accessories, it can be worn as the upper part of a warrior's clothing.
The quilted jacket "Shapur" is inspired by oriental costumes. It can be fastened at the front with three leather straps. What distinguishes this fastening is the diagonal overlapping of the material, similar to a kimono, which gives "Shapur" an oriental character. The possibility of waist adjustment is particularly interesting for women. Size and fit can be individually adjusted using cords on the sides. The quilted jacket has a strong, easy-to-grip lining without being too thick. The lining is thinner around the shoulders to not restrict freedom of movement. The quilted jacket "Shapur" is unique not only because of its cut but also thanks to the thin yet solid lining, which makes it almost a pity to hide it under other armor elements.
