Twilight Imperium Fourth Edition (English edition)
The fourth edition of one of the most legendary board games
Mecatol Rex. The center of a well-known galaxy and the former seat of the Lazax Empire. Today Rex is only the ruins of a powerful civilization, a long-forgotten empire, and also an object of desire for all races participating in galactic conflicts.
Galaxy at war
For two decades Twilight Imperium has been the unmatched model of brilliant and monumental strategy. The fourth edition is the most refined version of the game ever created. From three to six players will face off in military, political, and economic battles for control of the galaxy. 16 factions, over 350 figures, 51 tiles, 561 tokens, and nearly 400 different cards - it must impress!
The history of civilization
Each game of Twilight Imperium is a separate, unique epic full of betrayal, conflict, and magnificent conquests. The galaxy consists of 51 tiles, on which you will find everything from virgin planets, through supernovae, to asteroid fields and gravity rifts. Players receive pools of tiles and alternately "build the universe" around Mecatol Rex - the galactic capital located at its center. A strategically placed ion storm can serve as a natural barrier for your race, limiting the direction of development, while a fortunately located gravity rift can protect a peace-minded nation from an aggressive neighbor. In Twilight Imperium you are simultaneously constructors and conquerors of space!
A game round begins with the selection of one of 8 strategy cards, which determine the player order and the unique actions available to them (from providing additional command tokens to ensuring control over trade throughout the galaxy). After making the choice, players activate their interstellar flotillas, jumping between systems, conquering new planets for their empires, trading, and forming alliances. At the end of the turn, players jointly establish new laws and agendas, which often change the face of the game in unexpected ways.
At the end of each round, victory points are tallied, awarded for meeting the conditions of 10 face-down cards, from which one is revealed each turn. Each player also has two secret objectives, the completion of which will bring additional points. These objectives may include developing new technology, conquering a neighbor’s homeworld, or other events. The longer the game lasts, the more secret objectives are dealt to players, giving the game dynamism and creating satisfying challenges - until one of the rulers reaches the threshold of 10 points, thus ending the game.
Galaxy restored
Trade, exploration, conquest, development, management - the best strategy of all time is coming. If you ever wondered if there is one game in the world worth having on your shelf because it will never age, never bore you, and you will always gladly return to it (as soon as you have a few hours of free time for a game), the answer is simple - Twilight Imperium.
