Is there a spark of humanity burning within you?
Once Los Angeles was a city of endless possibilities. A land of skyscrapers shining in the sun, the fulfillment of every young person's dreams. They said: per aspera ad astra - and the sky was Los Angeles. The city of angels.
Soon the stars turned into neon lights.
After dark, Los Angeles is gloomier, and its winding streets often run with blood. That is why every day you go on duty. Here is your personal drama: a guardian of order, used to scare small children. The city fears you. It despises you. Without you, it is doomed to destruction. You endure in the rain, fog, and darkness, amidst the chaos of boiling crowds. In a worn trench coat, forever on the trail of something elusive.
Here is the Starter Set, thanks to which you will gain all the tools you need to learn the Blade Runner role-playing game, learn the basic mechanical rules, and play your first Investigation. You will become the titular android hunter from the Replicant Detection Division of the Los Angeles Police Department. As a detective - human or replicant - you will face criminal puzzles of the rainy megalopolis bathed in the light of pulsating neon lights. Every day brings new investigations, new case files on your desk, new difficult questions without answers, and another drama that basically does not concern you. But someone has to bear this burden on their shoulders. It fell on you.
In the box you will find everything you need for gameplay:
- An 80-page booklet with condensed rules based on the well-known and loved Year Zero Engine mechanics, tailored specifically for Blade Runner.
- A 56-page booklet Electric Dreams – the first official Investigation Files that android hunters must solve.
- Four ready-made characters.
- A color map of Los Angeles in the year 2037 measuring 864 mm × 558 mm.
- 26 colorful game aids, such as crime scene photos, data, documents, or maps.
- A special envelope for storing evidence materials.
- 70 high-quality cards depicting non-player characters, maneuvers and obstacles during chases, and initiative during combat.
- An Investigation Calendar card.
- 8 special transparent dices – two D6, D8, D10, and D12 each.
The Blade Runner role-playing game expands the boundaries of criminal RPGs, giving players the tools necessary during every investigation, not just during replicant retirements. Furthermore, the world and game mechanics emphasize the most important themes of the Blade Runner series - brutal action, corporate intrigues, the drama of identity breakdown, and moral conflicts.
During the game, you will doubt friends, sympathize with enemies, and check how much and if at all there is hope and humanity left in you.
IMPORTANT! The Blade Runner role-playing game Starter Set refers to the content of the Core Rulebook. The Starter Set contains a summary of the rules and Investigation Files, i.e., a scenario that will allow you and your friends to easily step into dystopian Los Angeles, learn the rules in practice, and face the first dilemmas that are an integral part of gameplay in this system. To enjoy all the system's possibilities, develop your characters, and create new ones, it will be necessary to reach for the Blade Runner role-playing game Core Rulebook. Additionally, the LA map, set of 8 dices, and deck of cards with non-player characters, maneuvers, obstacles during chases, and initiative will also be useful during other Investigations you create.
WARNING! This game, like the entire Blade Runner series, addresses difficult existential issues. It allows creating brutal, disturbing stories and questioning the personal beliefs of players. Therefore, it is not suitable for children.
