Set out on a terrifying journey by automobile!
The rise in popularity of automobiles in the 1920s meant that people traveling longer distances were no longer dependent on trains. For those who could afford the relative luxury of owning a car, the ever-expanding road network in the United States meant the possibility of visiting new places, including those unreachable by train. Moreover, one could decide the plan and pace of the journey themselves.
At the same time, this meant that strangers began to appear in previously isolated places. Strangers who might be unwelcome where old buried secrets had slumbered for generations. Who knows what lurks behind the lace curtains of the houses passed by? What dangers await careless travelers on highways and local roads?
The supplement Dead Light and Other Dark Paths contains two scenarios for the 7th edition of Call of Cthulhu built around traveling by car through the countryside, as well as six adventure seeds that the Keeper can freely expand and develop. In the classic Dead Light scenario, a chance encounter with a shaken young woman leads the Investigators to the trail of a nightmare aftermath of a failed crime. Meanwhile, in the brand new adventure Poisoned Fruits, when the Investigators run out of fuel and set out in search of help, they become trapped in a house where nothing is quite as it seems.
Both scenarios can be used as standalone adventures for one or two sessions or woven into an ongoing campaign in which the Investigators travel between towns.
To play the scenarios, the Keeper’s Book or the Call of Cthulhu Starter Set is required.
